Grassroots Development (ProAM)
Grassroots Development Program
The objective of this program is to recognize the achievements of newer and grassroots level players at the league level and to encourage these league members to compete at a higher level of competition.
All member leagues are eligible to nominate grassroots competitors for these awards, based on the size of their league:
- Adult Member Leagues of 24 or less members - 2 nominees, with 1 nominee selected by Darts Alberta for full award
- Adult Member Leagues of 25 to 99 members - up to 4 nominees, with 3 nominees selected by Darts Alberta for full award
- Adult Member Leagues of 100 or more members - up to 6 nominees, with 5 selected by Darts Alberta for full award
Grassroots Development Awards
Grassroots Development Awards are presented at each adult member league banquet.
Darts Alberta awards each of the selected recipients with:
- An NDFC Membership Upgrade for the following season
- Entry into a singles event at a Darts Alberta Ranked Tournament
- Eligible to participate in the next Pro-Am DART Shoot
ProAm DART Shoot
The ProAm DART (Developing Achievements of Rookie Talent) Shoot was launched in 2007. All award nominees are eligible to register in the tournament but registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.
A total of 16 teams compete in this annual event and teams are made up of a grassroots player paired with an elite athlete.
A new elite athlete list is published annually from which invitations are sent and again participation is on a first-come first-serve basis.
The event provides the opportunity for grassroots players to receive tips and mentorship from our elite athletes outside of an extremely competitive ranked tournament. It also provides the opportunity for elite athletes to give their experience back to the sport they are so passionate about.
