Coaching Accreditation

Coaching Streams

The National Darts Federation of Canada offers coaching training and certification for the sport of darts, in two streams:

  • Community Sport Coach
  • Competition Coach

Coaching Accreditation Stages

  • In-Training (IT)—you have successfully completed at least one of the required courses
  • Trained (T)—you have successfully completed all of the required courses but have not completed the required NCCP online evaluation(s) or submitted your NDFC practical assignments
  • Certified (C) for Community Sport Coaches—you have successfully completed all required course, evaluations and assignments
  • Certified (C) for Competition Coaches—you have successfully completed all required course, evaluations and assignments; and have been evaluated within a coaching environment

Community Sport Coaches

The Community Sport Coaching stream is designed to provide training in the basics of coaching. Often, Community Sport Coaches are parents with children participating in the sport or a volunteer who works with participants of all ages that are relatively new to the sport.

To receive full accreditation as a ‘Certified’ Community Sport Coach, you will need to:

  • Successfully complete the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions module
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation for Community Sport Coaches
  • Successfully complete the NDFC Technical Level I Coaching course
  • Submit all completed NDFC Level 1 practical assignments
  • Acknowledge, sign and submit the Coaches Code of Ethics

Competition Development Coaches

Coaches in the Competition stream usually have previous coaching experience or are former athletes in the sport. They tend to work with athletes over the long term to improve performance, often in preparation for provincial, national, and international competitions.

  • Competition Development Coach

Competition Introduction Coaching Accreditation

A Competition Introduction Coach would typically coach at regional, provincial or national competitions.

To receive full accreditation as a ‘Certified’ Competition Introduction Coach, you will need to:

  • Successfully complete the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions module (available in class or through webinar)
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Sport Nutrition module (now available only through eLearning)
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Plan a Practice module
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Design a Sport Program module
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Teaching and Learning module
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Basic Mental Skills module 
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation for Competition Introduction Coaches
  • Successfully complete the NDFC Technical Level I Coaching course
  • Submit all completed NDFC Level 1 practical assignments
  • Acknowledge, sign and submit the Coaches Code of Ethics
  • Practically demonstrate the required outcomes, through an evaluation process

Competition Development Coaching Accreditation

A Competition Development Coach would typically coach at provincial or national competitions.

To receive full accreditation as a ‘Certified’ Competition Development Coach, you will need to:

  • Successfully complete 4 out of the following 6 NCCP Multi-Sport Competition – Development courses
    (1) Managing Conflict
    (2) Leading Drug Free Sport
    (3) Psychology of Performance
    (4) Coaching and Leading Effectively
    (5) Developing Athletic Abilities
    (6) Prevention and Recovery
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation for Competition Development Coaches
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Managing Conflict online evaluation
  • Successfully complete the NCCP Leading Drug Free Sport online evaluation
  • Successfully complete the NDFC Technical Level 2 Coaching course
  • Submit all completed NDFC Level 2 practical assignments
  • Acknowledge, sign and submit the Coaches Code of Ethics
  • Practically demonstrate the required outcomes, through an evaluation process

Competition High Performance Coaching Accreditation

A Competition Development Coach would typically coach at national or international competitions.
